*has just returned to Britannia after a long trek. He sees that there is a newcomer to the town, and watches him from a distance. He seems to be chummy with his friendly rival, Captain Turner... Killian smirked and turned with a swish of his long coat, his mind's eye locked on the new man, John* we'll see if his welcome will be as... exciting as mine will be...
John Grimm -He'd heard about the rival captain, but hadn't had a chance to see him. Most of that had to do with his night spent in the stocks, day spent in jail and evening spent cleaning off the debris and general fuckery of the day prior.
When he went back to the pub to work (and thank god they /took/ him back), the girls were all abuzz about Captain Killian. How handsome he was, how dashing. John rolled his eyes and ignored the comments, used to the way the girls twittered about like brainless birds.
Little did he know...-
Killian Jones *having temporarily returned to his ship for the time being, he decided to head back into the port town for a much needed brew. he decided to step into the pub for the time being, watching with a smirk as the whole establishment fell silent. He stepped up to the bar where he was readily handed a flagon of ale without charge, and he sat down, drinking silently. It seemed his reputation preceded him nicely.
although when he looked up, he saw that man again, the one that was friends with Captain Turner, and his face cracked into a smile. He watched him for a long moment before turning away, just as John had looked in his direction. The Outlander... now he was something special... He knew for a fact he would be of good use to him. So he ordered a second round of drink and sent an order that john join him at the bar to enjoy it. Now it was just a matter of waiting...*
John Grimm -It wasn't unusual for John to get handed flagons of ale and be told that someone had bought him a round. As long as he was on duty, he refrained. It wasn't that he was afraid of getting drunk. Quite the opposite. But the standing rule was no drinking on shift. The girls couldn't, so he didn't. He blinked and made his way down to where the Pirate sat and set the flagon down-
Much as I appreciate the gesture, friend, I'll have to decline. I'm on shift. -He was careful not to stare at the guy, or keep eye contact any longer than absolutely necessary-
Killian Jones *he smirked looking up at him. He locked blue eyes with hazel and he smiled, a dark and tricky gesture* Not anymore you're not. i spoke with your adviser. Have a seat, good sir. You wouldn't turn down the company of a pirate now would you?
*he looked up to see several of the tavern wenches watching them through the small kitchen window and he flashed them a smile. Much to his expectations they all swooned on the spot and he laughed, ducking his head* You've seemed to make yourself quite the home here, sir. Ive heard talk about you since my crew and I landed here. But i seem to have missed your name... what was it? *at that, he extended his hand to the man in greeting, his gear driven prosthetic, resting on the bar top casually*
John Grimm -John blinked and looked back at Seamus. The older barkeep was hard-pressed to keep eye contact with John. The older man nodded and moved away quickly, going to tend to John's patrons.
He snorted and shook his head, turning back to give the pirate a dry look- You used to always getting your way? Sorry to disappoint ya, buddy, but I don't roll over and beg when a pretty face looks my way. You want answers? You're gonna have to earn 'em.
-He drank his ale, tipping his head back so that the pirate got a lovely view of his Adam's apple working. He set down the tankard and gave the pirate a look- Name's John. Thanks for the ale. Now if you'll excuse me, I have a job to do.
-And he promptly turned away, giving the pirate a full view of his...assets.-
Killian Jones *Killian watched him for a moment, thoroughly stunned by his attitude. he watched him down the ale for a minute before looking down at his own. so very.. intriguing....
He didn't say a word when john stood up and turned away, his eyes on his back the entire walk to the kitchen. Long after John had disappeared behind the door, he stared after him before a smirk crossed his lips* Oh yes... he's the one alright *he said, turning back to his flagon and finishing it.
He wouldn't bother john now. Not while he was at work. but he knew quite well that the man had to pass his ship to return to the bunk house. He'd get his answers.... no worries there...*
John Grimm -As predicted, John finished out his shift. He was careful not to get /too/ much flour on him. Thankfully Daphne and Priscilla were actually /learning/ how to make the turnovers and other pastries. So for the most part, he sat back and delegated.
Tired mentally more than physically, he walked quietly through the oil lamp-lit streets and zoned out. It was a straight path from the pub to the bunkhouse, so he didn't really think about the trek.
His brain had a mind of its own, focusing on a pair of sky-blue eyes and sinful lips. He shook his head. Dumbass. He didn't know what was wrong with him. He wasn't afraid, and maybe that was the problem. There really wasn't much he was afraid of.
His brain was just /elsewhere/ while he walked past the myriad Airships.-
Killian Jones *Like clockwork, Killian found himself watching as the man exited the pub and headed for the bunk house. He stepped out from the shadows, keeping his hands (one flesh, one metal) up to show that he came in peace* My apologies if i scared you at all, sir. I merely wished to talk and perhaps my earlier approach was less than presentable.
*he bowed slightly to the man and flashed a smile up at him* care if i walk with you?
John Grimm -He stopped, head cocked to the side as he was pulled from his reverie. Speak of the devil and he shows up like a shadow. He raised a brow, but couldn't find a /good/ reason not to let the Pirate walk with him. So he shrugged and resumed walking-
Not sure why you're so keen on walking and talking with me, but if that's what you want... have at.
Killian Jones *he smirked walking alongside john, his hands in his pockets* i merely wished to greet the famous Outlander is that so much to ask? *he teased, looking up at the taller man. it was odd having to look UP at someone, but such is life* You are certainly everything that others have been bragging. Tall, and strong. You must have been a warrior where you came from.
*he scoffed a bit, looking down at the cobbled walk* there doesn't seem to be much of that going on lately. Only the eldest vampires... like your friend, and the elves seem to know much about the true talents of war and fighting. A shame really...
John Grimm -He snorted at that, acutely aware that he stood a little taller than the pirate. The man was lean and wiry, but he didn't doubt for a moment that the pirate was strong.- I'm just a guy. A weird newcomer, perhaps... but a guy. -He blinked and grinned at the offhand compliment- You sound like someone who appreciates strength. Interesting.
Can't say I've ever seen an elf.. and before Micah, I'd never met a vamp.. but okay... -He stopped then, turning to face the pirate.- So what do /you/ want from me?
Killian Jones *he smiled* what? i cant make friendly acquaintance with the man that has become so famous to these parts of Britannia? *he said extending his arms to the side* you certainly HAVE been spending quite a bit of time with that vampire. Suspicious things they are. I do hope he has not poisoned your thoughts about me? I do mean no harm.
*as if to example his words, he bowed his head, looking as humble as he possibly can* You can always trust a pirate's words over the king's own men, mate. A pirate, while tricky, is always honest about his trickery and deception. The same cannot be said for many men of distinguished ranking. How else do they work their way up the ladder of success?
John Grimm -He had to give it to the Pirate. The man obviously knew his politics. They were the same no matter where he went. He shrugged- My nature doesn't have anything to do with my friend. I'm suspicious by nature. I was military. And I watched people kill in cold blood based solely on orders.
-He leaned against a nearby street post, arms crossed over his chest- So you wanted to meet me. Here I am. You seem to be pretty popular around here, yourself. I watch as people bow and scrape and cower around you. But you don't strike me as being all that frightening. Should I be scared of you?
-His tone became teasing, a smirk lifting his lips. He decided it would be fun to toy with the pirate-
Killian Jones *he chuckled, shaking his head as he looked up and down the boardwalk for a moment* no no you should have no reason to fear me unless you cross me... or you carry copious amounts of gold. Most of my notoriety comes from the pearl city to be honest *he smiled crookedly* quite a few imperial ships have fallen to the midnight rape of my holds. But only for good, *he held his right hand over his heart with a smile* i promise.
Now i understand the suspicions. I live in suspicion myself. *he said pacing slowly before the man* Pirate and all that *he chuckled, winking at John temptingly* killing in cold blood. although I am PROUD to say that Oceana has seen far less violence in quite the long time. it seems the world is in peace at the moment, with a few bad tots stirring up trouble. *he waved his hand with a grin* cant have all good without a bit of mischief, right?
John Grimm -He rolled his eyes at that- So you're like Robin Hood, right? Rob from the rich, give to the poor? -He pushed off the post and strolled around the pirate, purposely giving him a thorough once-over. If the pirate could flirt shamelessly, so could he. What was the harm, right?
Once he made his circuit, he began walking at a sedate pace toward the bunkhouse. Not to cut the pirate off, but to see what he might do- So what, you lookin' to have me stir up some trouble? That it? Get me to be your guard dog, or whatever?
Killian Jones *he chuckled* no not at all. actually I was looking for you for the common good. It seems your arrival has caused quite a stir. Not just here.. but in the wastelands. *he watched as john's eyes widened a tick and he smirked* oh? surprised? *he leaned in a bit, looking right into his eyes* your arrival... i still cant deem if it caused the break between worlds or was the result of it. But something isn't right in Oceana anymore... and the peace we'd been working towards has been compromised.
*he leaned back and chuckled, uncrossing his arms. he held up his left hand and with the press of a button, retracted the false hand and showed the jointed and sturdy hook instead* It's been awhile since this world has seen darkness.. and it comes with a powerful birth this time...
John Grimm Ah -He smiled, but it wasn't a happy smile- So my arrival has caused problems? What do /you/ know of my arrival? Why are you so interested? Am I a shiny new toy to you?
-He smirked, pausing again so he could turn and regard the pirate. Damn the man had beautiful eyes. He chuckled softly and cocked his head to the side, smoldering much the way the pirate had at him.* Do you want to play?
Killian Jones *Killian raised a brow at the man, looking almost unimpressed with his wording* absolutely not. I wish to find the OTHER man that came through when trouble started so that we can save this cozy little planet from destruction. *he smirked* you seem to have come to love this place as home. I doubt you'd want to see it come to ruin...
*Killian leaned back and cracked his back quietly looking up at the stars* I am sure you wouldn't want your friend, the vampire *he bit out the word a little too harshly, shaking his head* to fall to ruin himself. He was a strong man in history, human... and lowered on the rungs of importance because of his choice NOT... to remove the curse he'd been put under. Silly people here... but it is my world as much as theirs.. and yours. and I'd rather not be dictated by evil. that is why i seek you out.
John Grimm /Other/ man? -He furrowed a brow- You mean the crazy one Micah met? The one who was talking about Tartarus? -he'd heard about the guy, the one who looked so much like Trent. It was odd, knowing that there was someone like that here. There was no one like him. No one like D..... but there was a Trent. Odd.
He snorted but stopped trying to be cute.- So tell me how to find him. What do you need me to do?
Killian Jones *he smirked* He's already been found. he'd being held in the cells of your magistrate's housing. Waiting to be transported to the pearl city. *he said coyly, looking up at him with a strong chin* and I know of him because I was the one that dropped him off after he was picked up int he wastelands. It seems that you two showed up right when the divide between our world and Tartarus was shattered. Its like a broken door. A little bit of evil gets in at a time. and we need to close it before more trouble brews. *he said raising a brow at him* if you understand what i mean.
John Grimm Wait..wait..wait...-He stopped moving, eyes narrowing- You're saying that Senor Crazy is from /my/ world??
-That stopped him cold. /Was/ it Trent? Or someone who looked like him? He let out a soft breath, then looked at Killian quietly- So we're from the same event. What do we do to stop others from causing more problems.
-Just like that, John was on board. He needed to find this guy, a fellow Outlander. He wasn't alone anymore.-
Killian Jones *he smirked crossing his arms* there now... told you you'd be interested. *he stepped up to John and smiled at him their faces just inches apart* And yes. I do tend to get what I want because i have the leverage and the reasoning for it.
*he smirked, staring at him for a moment before stepping back* i don't know if he's from YOUR time, or if he's simply another dimension jumper. Either case, it means that the rift is terribly open and our world is now in danger. If you value your friends and new home you will listen to me. We have to find the lad I dropped off, break him free and work out how to close that rift.... I don't know how much from the other side has come through already, but if it is as much as i assume, we're already in way over our heads... it's going to be a long fight. Are you willing to fight for us?
John Grimm Fight for us. -He smirked at the pirate's choice of words and let the man move away from him. He wouldn't chase. Wouldn't do anything to give himself away.-
So you want /me/ to fight for you. With you. And find Senor Crazy in the jail cell. -He pinched the bridge of his nose and sighed- Sounds like fun. You gonna let me pilot your ship? Or do I have to ride around in the brig?
Killian Jones *he waved a hand, looking at him carefully* no one pilots the Roger but me, sir. Sorry to say *he looked up at him with a strong jaw and grinned* i think you'll be fine on the other hand. however I need someone with stealth on my ship.. someone who has been known as the best thief in Britannia.... and I need you to talk him into joining my side.
*he sighed, looking somewhat suffering as he rubbed his jaw* he seems to have a deep hatred for me and i haven't met the lad. Unfortunately, the pot calling the kettle black here. He seems to have earned himself quite the lacking of respect these days... tell me how does he fare with not ripping the others to pieces every time his tum growls?
John Grimm You mean Micah. -it wasn't a question. He nodded his head- You need stealth, and we need answers. I need to know /why/ I'm here, and this other guy too. And we need to know why it is we've seen the upheaval around town and the land. Weird shit's going on and we need to fix it.
-He sighed, looking away- Because you're right. I have come to think of this place as home. And I seem to be stuck in the role of protector. So I protect.
Killian Jones *he smirked and bowed his head at john before extending his hand to him* then welcome aboard sir. you are more than welcome into my crew as you see fit. *he finished, noting the tired look in the man's eyes* now.. I will leave you to your night. you appear exhausted good man. Get your rest. tomorrow, meet me at the docking of the roger, and we will make our plans.
*he leaned in* the borders of Oceana's dimension are expanding, and quite rapidly. Whatever the darkness is that is breaching our world is stretching the continuum thin. I have full faith that you will be willing to fight to stop the spread and bring the world back into order. *he smirked* they were right about you...
John Grimm They? -he raised a brow, watching the pirate carefully. He shook his head, rubbing the back of his neck. He was tired, but more interested in the pirate's words- If it means making things safe for those around us, I'll do what I can. I'm not a hero, but I can't just stand by and let weird shit happen. Especially if it's something that was caused by me.
-He yawned, rolling his shoulder- Jury's still out on you, though. -He smirked and turned as though to walk off-
Killian Jones *he smirked an turned away from him* see you in the morrow then...*he murmured returning to his ship. He cast one last glance over his shoulder at the man shooting him a wink before scaling the gangway with light feet. Like a shadow, he was gone into the night, leaving john to himself and the ominous night ahead of him*
John Grimm -He'd heard about the rival captain, but hadn't had a chance to see him. Most of that had to do with his night spent in the stocks, day spent in jail and evening spent cleaning off the debris and general fuckery of the day prior.
